Resonate Blues – Lucky Phil, GG Davies, Clifford De Silva

The Blues comes to Resonate once more when we stage a special Blues Deluxe edition of Resonate at the Grand Hotel this Sunday the 18th of Feb.

Lucky Phil will be making his Resonate debut at 3pm and has promised “A set of pumping blues originals”. we look forward to checking out Phil.

No stranger to Resonate, G.G Davies will be playing the 4pm set, with tales of divorce, betrayal and salvation. G.G Davies was born in Sydney, in the Army 20 years before he picked up a guitar, never having fired a shot in anger. Both bankruptcy and divorce forged his music. After the army G.G Davies moved to FNQ in the Daintree where he formulated his Daintree blues. Playing at such events as the Cairns Blues Festival 2010 and numerous festivals including Yungaburra Folk Festival, Black Mountain Unplugged, Wallaby Creek and the Tanks.

Clifford De Silva Makes his Resonate Debut at 5pm this Sunday. Influenced by a wide variety of genres including blues, folk, rock, pop, ambient, world and psychedelic music, Clifford de Silva is a self taught musician without convention. He incorporates an arsenal of acoustic instruments such as guitar, weissenborn, dobro, Appalachian dulcimer, banjo and foot percussion in conjunction with ethereal electronic effects.

From swampy blues to heart felt ballads and meandering instrumental soundscapes, Clifford’s mesmerizing improvisational skills always enthrall whilst keeping his audience wondering what could possibly be coming next.

Presented by Pandamonium Records, and originally starting in 2003 at the Courthouse Hotel on Thursday nights, and then for several years back and forth between the Grand Hotel and the Courthouse Hotel, Resonate has recently returned to the Grand with a new Sunday afternoon session format. Resonate has become a local institution with Dan Sultan, Emma Louise, Danny Ross, Steve Towson and many more having all played Resonate early in their careers. Resonate is not an open mic night, and all artists are paid to ensure the best quality original artists are attracted and quality control is maintained. Resonate supports a sustainable local music industry.

Resonate kicks off at 3pm every Sunday at the Grand Hotel Cairns. Entry is free.
