Local lads Rum, Forest, Rum! have been in Brisbane trying to crack into the scene there for about a year now. We thought it was time to catch up with vocalist/guitarist Tyson Beable to see how they are getting on..
Tyson explained “We’ve decided to have a late EP launch for our Maybe Means No EP, which was released digitally in February this year. We decided to have this show before we go on a little break to take some time on working on some new material and the next release for 2017. We’ve currently got some awesome brand new tracks and might be premiering some at the show. The EP launch is happening at Club Greenslopes in Brisbane, it is an all ages show with free barefoot bowls, pool, darts, a licensed bar with food and drinks”
At the show people will have the opportunity of purchasing a limited edition special edition Maybe Means No CD with 4 bonus tracks and the first line of Rum, Forest, Rum Merchandise.
The show promises to be a fun night of punk rock music with supporting acts such as far north Queensland’s punk veterans “Charlie Rebel” (formally no hype). New gold coast pop punk act “1% Left” and Brisbane High School Pop Punkers “Cheesy Crust” as well as local Dj’s “Absynth”. This gig will be a follow up to our first show in brisbane that happened at renown alternative venue The Brightside and we’ll shortly be playing after on the 29th August supporting Melbourne Pop Punk act “Snark”.
I asked Tyson what direction the new material was taking and he enthused “The new tracks are heading into more technical territory, we’ve been working hard on our new songs trying to make them the best songs for our listeners”
Moving to a major city from a regional one like Cairns is always a challenge, Tyson explains “The challenges we’ve faced as a band was pretty much starting from scratch, it was like starting again, being the new kid in school. Getting to know the local scene, trying to land that first gig and put on a good show”
Maybe Means No EP Launch is happening August 19th at Club Greenslopes, All Ages, $10 Entry, $9 Pre Sale Tickets Available online. Doors Open at 6pm.
