As part of the Tanks World Music Series, The East Pointers will be playing the Tanks Arts Centre on Friday the 31st of March
Increasingly popular on the festival scene (Woodford 2015, WOMADelaide 2017), this adrenalized, roof-rattling trio’s free-wheeling instrumental jigs, stomps, exhilarating reels and heart-breaking harmonies have made The Easter Pointers torchbearers for a new wave in traditional music.
Hailing from Prince Edward Island and Ontario in Canada, Guitarist Jake Charron, Tim (fiddle) and Koady Chaisson (banjo) make traditional music seem ridiculously hip.
Leaning on their Celtic heritage with ripping medleys of reels and jigs that pepper their debut album, their tunes are 100% original and performed and arranged with a combination of youthful panache and the acumen accumulated during countless family “seshuns” and ceilidhs.
The trio’s excellent debut release Secret Victory, was penned mostly in Australia in 2015, and features beautiful original and traditional songs.
Before releasing Secret Victory, The East Pointers knew they were onto something, having toured Australia and the UK twice in 12 months and accepted the 2015 Music PEI New Artist of the Year, and Roots Traditional Recording of the Year (EP) awards.
Whether they’re carving up a living room, local pub, or summer festival, The East Pointers are sure to have you two-stepping with a smile on your face.
