A Gift Of Music

The Gift Of Music

A musical spectacular showcasing award winning bands, choirs and ensembles from around Cairns fills the Tanks Arts Centre with sound this Wednesday and Thursday night (9th & 10th Aug).

Promoting diversity and unity through performance, the showcase will bring the Cairns community closer together and at the same time strengthen the commitment to social justice, inclusion and respect towards each other.

Featuring some of the finest musicians including Cairns Brass and the musicians of St Andrews Catholic College plus the choirs of St Augustines, St Monicas, Holy Cross School and the iconic Cairns Choral Society.

Adding to the home grown talent is Cairns Youth Orchestra No 1 & No 2, Far Northern Brass, Cairns Flute Ensemble and Drum Mugendai.
The line-up would not be complete without Cairns RSL Pipes and Drums. Combining more than 500 performers from Cairns, this is a showcase not to be missed. All proceeds from the concert will be split and donated directly to community based charities.

About the GIFT OF MUSIC
‘THE GIFT OF MUSIC’ focuses on communal ‘goodness by creating an opportunity to make the community a better place for all. Essentially a very simple community based network for the purpose of facilitating an increased community response to the work of the many varied charities within the community. Schools in the Cairns region have joined this project to be places where the community can go to donate items of need for Cairns based charities. By opening the doors of our Cairns schools, the project is ‘gifting’ the community with a one-stop-shop for donations; connecting people who have, to people who have not.
