Crooked White – Party Boy

Local MC Crooked White has just released a new album ‘Party Boy’ chock full of bangas. We caught up with the man himself about the new album..

I guess the whole process started Early 25′ – I felt Ide finally climbed out of a massive depression, brought on by a relationship breakdown, leaving Brisbane and my community, moving back home,It really felt like an end of an era,and to be honest it was a pretty heavy time, mid life crisis maybe?

I had always wanted to make another Album, after Confessions 2018 I invested in some gear, nice studio Mic, focusrite, Monitors etc some beatmaking software and I gave myself a crash course in creating beats, with the assistance of some experienced heads offering gold advice when required ( Jimmy Flipshyt ) The whole album was recorded in my Edge Hill unit, I would create very sparse tracks , simple keys, simple bass, and try and catch a vibe, I would then take those instrumentals and work on a hook idea, and build the verses around them, this went on for fucking months haha

Once I started feeling more confident, the process sped up and by now I was well back in the groove of writing daily again, I just started building the Album and vibe from there.

The Name Party Boy is a reference to early house party and Pub days, someone would arrive to shouts of “Partys Here” just silly bants – its also a refence to the first track on Confessions – I ask in my opening verse ” Nobody wanna rock with the Party Boy? Over here Im the Party Boy”

So, Just a nice little throwback / nod to those that have followed Crooksie along the way.

The Album features Evil Eddie from Butterfingers fame, I have always wanted to do a track with him, we had toured previously and I feel like we kinda have the same take on alot of stuff, he is also a sick writer and good dude, which helps too.

Few local Cairns cats thrown in also, JImmy Flipshyt does some cuts on ‘Incredible” Gary Hill laid down some sweet bass on a few jams, Amigo Selistino played some Sax on “Lovers” he was living next door to me in Edge hill! So I roped him in haha really great guy and a epic multi talented muso. Ty ‘Silky’Dalton laid down some guitar stuff – Its been nice working with new cats and getting to know a few heads from up here also, cheers fellas! Mastering was done by by Cris Stevens at Fed Audio and Mixing by Brisbane Hip Hop Legend Masterwolf.

Im looking at maybe launching, doing something early next year up here.. and I would like to do a Brisbane show also, see how it goes
