Resonate kicks off again this Thursday night at the Grand Hotel with another fine lineup for the discerning music lovers out there.
Kicking the night off from 7.00pm will be Emmaline. A rhythmical and lyrical songstress, Emmaline emanates a passionate, and positive roots experience. With uplifting, groovy acoustic music. Drawing from her diverse skills, 20 years experience as an in-demand drummer/percussionist and dancer, and her Maori heritage. Since emerging from behind the drums to front the audience, her deep, playful style and flow of poetry has merged with guitar & vocals and her original conscious, compassionate lyrics embrace & celebrate life. The observant local may remember Emmaline from when she played drums for 90s Pub Rock outfit Black Label. Emmaline will be joined by Danny on percussion.
Vanilla Bones is the name Ruth Young goes under when she plays shows with her Dad, who just so happens to play a mean slide guitar and banjo. Ruth wowed the Resonate crowd when she made her Resonate debut last month and we look forward to hearing her again. Vanilla Bones hits the stage at 8.20pm.
Playing the 9.30 slot this week is Katie Jay. Katie is just about to head off to San Francisco with her band “The Code” to play a festival alongside bands like Hot Tuna with the goal of raising money to preserve the hundreds of tapes made of legendary bands by the late Owsley “Bear” Stanley. Along with being a sound engineering pioneer, Owsley is also famous for being the Grateful Deads “Chemist”. Owsley moved to North QLD and spent the later years of his life here. This will be your last chance to catch Katie play before they fly out on the 31st Oct.
