Lontano – December

Lontano (Italian for “distant” or “far away”) features Anthony Dettori (The Sunburys) and Roz Pappalardo (women in docs and The Soldier’s Wife), who live 1000 miles apart but share Italian heritage and a passion for spacious, earthy, alt-country storytelling.

The duo’s first collection of songs embraces the theme of distance, weaving a familiar narrative of distant hearts and minds, and expressing the emotional gravity that tugs through the space between people.

Lontano’s debut single, Adelaide, exploring the disillusionment of the left-behind, was warmly received, premiering on the AU Review and receiving airplay around the country.

Their second single, Half Seas (a break-up survival story, involving alcohol) leapt to #3 on AMRAP’s regional charts (thanks to strong community radio support), after premiering online with Scenestr and making its national radio debut with Beccy Cole on ABC Country.

This third instalment from Lontano’s debut album is a story of how December – and the weight of holiday season expectations – can brutally magnify the impact of distance between people.  Whether the distance between us lies in our opinions, our feelings, or simple geography, there’s nothing quite like a time for togetherness to make us feel more isolated than ever.

December’ is a song for everyone who feels lonely during the festive season – especially those who have to work through the holidays, and the people they leave behind.  A time of year fraught with emotional baggage, December hurts less when we can choose who to share it with.
