Resonate – Michelle Walker, Susan Lily, Tim Woodz

It’s looking to be an epic Resonate at the Grand this Thursday night with 3 touring acts hitting the Resonate stage.

First up at 7.00pm is Michelle Walker. In a relatively short time, Michelle Walker has not only made a name for herself as a performing country recording artist, but is by far establishing herself as a prolific songwriter. Michelle has to date over thirty songs recorded, which includes songs on Michelle’s three studio releases as well some recorded by other artists. Michelle also enjoys collaborating with fellow artists which to date includes Kross Kut Records producer Lindsay Waddington, Bob Elliston, Lawrie Minson, Peter Salata, Hugh Curtis, Tyson Colman and Melissa Bajric. Michelle is an award winning songwriter and her song “Letting You Go” has just been named as one of 8 nominees in the international American Songwriting Awards in the Blues section.

Recent career highlights include performing at Adam Brand’s famous Townsville restaurant, Brandy’s Restaurant as well as opening Amber Lawrence’s Superheroes album tour in Innisfail, and Michelle was a featured artist at the Townsville City Country Music Festival. Michelle has just released her third studio album “A Better Day” which has received rave reviews from fans and presenters alike, furthermore the title track “A Better Day” has just hit the Top 40 Country Charts in Australia. Michelle delivers spine tingling warmth through her vocals during her live performances, winning over the hearts of music and country music fans alike.

Playing the 8.20 slot is Susan Lily (See Eli Birchalls Interview with Susan). Known across Australia and internationally for “Daisy Jane” and her latest single “Here On The Road” Susan Lily is forging an unforgettable and unique path towards mass appeal from her home base in Adelaide. Her first love is the stage and the bubbly entertainer has been treading the boards as an entertainer way before she started singing her own compositions. Moving to Adelaide in 2013 Susan has been forging relationships with as many aspects of the music she can.

Her stage career began with her foray into standup comedy at the turn of the century. Comedy being a hard mistress, it gave Susan the opportunity to hone her skills with an audience. It taught her that to own a stage was paramount to an engaging and memorable experience. She’s been doing that ever since with tales of her home life in outback NSW, her travels, intertwined amongst her songs.

Last but certainly not least, playing the 9.30 slot this week is the enigmatic Tim Woodz. Tim Woodz plays odd-ball folk songs to likes of Arlo Guthrie, Paul kelly and Greg champion. He tells interesting stories through great melodies and funky rhythms. He plays jazzy acoustic guitar, driving blues harmonica and sings with deep smokey vocals. A quirky entertainer you can’t miss.

Resonate is staged every Thursday night at the Grand Hotel in Cairns. Kitchen opens at 6.00, Resonate blasts off at 7.00pm entry is free!
