Ed Kuepper and Jim White

Having wowed audiences with their take on 45 years worth of Kuepper catalogue last year, Ed Kuepper with Jim White returned last night to finish what they began back in May ’21 before the world went topsy turvy (again). Their April/May/June run – now dubbed THE GREATEST MUSICAL MATCH IN OZ HISTORY – kicked off last night with a sold out Canberra and heads in all directions around the nation. It includes performances at both the Rising Festival in Melbourne and Vivid in Sydney.

Kuepper, of course, is the co-founder of ’70’s proto-punks The Saints, chief architect of the uncompromising Laughing Clowns and The Aints! and master songsmith over some 15+ solo albums, while White is the brilliant drummer of renowned instrumental trio Dirty Three, partner in the genre-defying Xylouris White and disciple of all things Ed.

Since we last saw this dynamic duo, Ed has toured as a member of the all-star improvisational quartet Asteroid Ekosystem (alongside Alister Spence, Lloyd Swanton and Toby Hall – and Jim has seen swift success of his new art-rock/free jazz/ experimental noise trio with Chris Abrahams and Gareth Liddiard.  Jim has also been announced as Artist in Residence for Melbourne’s Rising Festival in June, where he will showcase four of his collaborative works, including his work with Ed.

Ed Keupper and Jim White play The Tanks Arts Centre this Friday night 29th April. Tickets available through Ticketlink
