This year’s edition of Jam In The Jah will be held on Saturday 3rd October and sees the festival in its new home at the Innisfail Showground’s. It will feature national touring acts Toddie Spitfire (Bris) and Omegachild (Bris) alongside local NQ talent King Social (Townsville), Deadset (Innisfail) and Cairns’ own Greta Stanley, Vainz and The Taste, plus more to be announced.
The festival has become an Innisfail institution over the years and has hosted many local and national touring acts such as Kingswood, British India, Nine Sons Of Dan and Evil Eddie (amongst many others).
We spoke to promoter Tony Alcock about the move from traditional home of the Carrajah Hotel to the Innisfail Showground’s.
“Basically the festival has been growing from year to year and we’ve out grown the Carrajah Hotel. We’ve had numbers in the 700’s the last few years so we needed somewhere bigger to accommodate. Our new home at the Innisfail Showground’s gives us bigger possibilities to expand the festival and hopefully in the future we’ll be able to expand it to a two day event”
Bringing plenty of energy and passion will be Townsville based 5 piece King Social (pictured) with their ‘city meets country’ sound. The guys opened this years Groovin The Moo Festival and have been receiving a lot of love of late on Triple J’s Unearthed Charts. They recently played their first show in Sydney as part of the ‘Big Man’ Tour to rave reviews and will no doubt pack a punch at this years Jam In The Jah.
The festival will wrap up with a smashing set by Brisbane based Dance Electronic act Omegachild. Exploration, improvisation and the freedom to chase goosebumps of one’s own making best sums up Omegachild.
Festival Promoter Tony Alcock added “He’s pretty amazing live, the guy is pretty much a one man band! Should be an awesome finish”
Stay tuned to the event page on Facebook for more band announcements over the coming weeks.
Limited $15 Early Bird Tickets are available now from OzTix and BasLeMode (58 Earnest St Innisfail) from Wed 9th Sep. Tickets will also be available at the gate for $25.
