Kuranda Roots will now be held every 2 years and will be back in full festival form in 2017 in conjunction with Bushweek Festival.
The good news is the Kuranda Roots crew are having a fundraising shindig at Koah Hall on July 2. Located just 10 minutes drive from Kuranda Village, Koah Hall will be the venue for the fundraising dancehall, featuring Melbourne glitch lords STAUNCH, Byron Bay’s dancehall kings 4’20 SOUND, Island Vibe’s reggae and D’n’B bossman RUDEKAT as well as a swathe of tasty local crew including Billy Dread, Dubcide, Shredder, Unique and Deadly Creature.
James Hayes (Shadow Fx) & Alg Renton (Positive Thought, Mustard Tiger) have joined forces to create STAUNCH a bass heavy, funk laden mid-tempo breaks/glitch hop project with a fresh, intricate and unique style; plenty of spice and melty transitions to satisfy any fan.
4’20’ feat Baptist – Mashing it up for the Kuranda Fundraiser is Oren Selecta feat Baptiste. The 4’20’ have been running the maddest reggae and dub events in Australia, are based in Byron Bay NSW. Their music is influenced from the traditional Jamaican sound system culture and perform live as a dub band and as DJs.
Travel Beats Cairns are also offering affordable transport from Cairns and Mareeba on the night for you to ‘flow with the motion, and get a groovin’ and a movin’ to the Koah Hall with ease’.
There will be a licensed bar, chai, delicious food and plenty of space to roll a swag.
Tickets are available from Shiva Moon and Travel Beats in Cairns, and in Kuranda from Tantrika, Coondoo St, Kuranda Junglist, in the Original Rainforest Markets, and Kuranda Healing, opposite the Post Office.
