Marville‘s latest release, Terra Alpha, is really something. Review site Laundry Echo described it as “…jarring, forceful and f*cking fantastic.”
I was lucky enough to catch them at Betty’s Espresso Bar, Brisbane earlier this year – Marville‘s songwriting chops and the power they bring to their performance is a real joy to behold.
Cairns is well of the beaten track and financially not the easiest place for bands to get to, but thankfully Marville have made the effort and will be performing at Elixir Bar on Friday June 22nd, from 8pm.
Brisbane/Meanjin-based Ash Kerley and Doug Palmer are collectively Marville. Their intensely human bare-bones approach has earned them myriad praise across their local scene, with multiple placings in the 4ZZZ Hot 100 and Sonic Masala. Crowned winners of the 2017 Billy Thorpe Scholarship at the Queensland Music Awards last March, Marville‘s second LP Terra Alpha is a journey through the hot, crushing tension that comes before the quintessential melodramatic Queensland storm.
