The 5th Ukulele BBQ Kuranda will go ahead this year on 4th – 5th of July in a slightly expanded form to help fill the void left by the cancellation of the Cairns Ukulele Festival.

If you want to help, be involved or perform, contact the organisers (info below) – all are welcome.

AJ Leonard & Jenny Rowlands (Melbourne) will headline the Sunday evening concert and they’ll also be conducting workshops.

Saturday 4th of July
Firefly Pool Bar The Kuranda Hotel
Daytime:
– Free beginners’ workshop
– Free concert
– Exotica DJs

Sunday 5th of July (Main Day)
Venue – Kuranda Amphitheatre
Daytime:
– Open Mic Stage.
– Gourmet BBQ supplied and prepared by Kuranda’s “Honey & Spice” Ukulele Group, by donation.
– Performances by community ukulele groups from the Tablelands, Cairns, Mission Beach and Kuranda
– Ukulele workshops
Evening:
– Feature Concert at the Kuranda Amphitheatre Understage

Plus, you could even make your own ukulele in the lead-up to the BBQ!

Ukulele Building Class
Mon 29th June – Fri 3rd of July
– An all-inclusive 5-day ukulele building course conducted by BBQ supporter Allen McFarlen and Micheal Connor at Barron River Ukuleles in Cairns.
