Al Boulton Band Dont give up On Love

Al Boulton Band – Don’t Give Up On The Love

Townsville based Disco Funk Acid Jazz act the Al Boulton Band have recently released their newest video clip to the track ‘Don’t Give Up On The Love’.

You can check it out right here!

Speaking to band leader Al Boulton recently, he gave me an insight into how the song was written.

“This song is about a relationship break up. I was hurting, I heard this chorus float through my mind. I believed that the relationship still had a chance at the time. After the song was written I got Madonna our female singer to record it. We switched the genders for her to sing it. I can only imagine that men and women feel a similar thing when they break up. The song has become a great anthem for couples in a relationship to not give up on the love and work things out. It’s also a song that people identify with after a break up.”

The song also features a mention to a beautiful part of the Far North, with The Tablelands featured in the film clip and lyrics.

“The Tablelands was involved in that particular drama! Before we split up we visited the Tablelands and had an awesome time.”

Being launched in December last year at The Loona Lounge in Townsville, the clip was well received with a large crowd attending the event.

“It was perfect. We had a large dancing crowd there. We are grateful for the support we receive from the Townsville scene. The Loona Lounge and Commonwealth Hotel hosted our video launch and Jake Reid let us shoot the video at Flinders Social.”

Being influenced by the likes of Jamiroquai, Incognito, Brand New Heavies, Roy Ayers and Masters at Work, Disco music has now been a two decade love affair for bassist Al Boulton.

“I bought some 70s disco records from an op shop in the early 90s and my whole world changed. It was a window into another world of happy driving bass lines.”

With a big 2017 ahead, the band have been confirmed to perform at Rock The Yacht in Port Douglas in April and Palm Creek Folk Festival in June.

“We have a tour booked in May and I am writing new songs for the band which we will play this year. We will also be applying to get into international festivals overseas. We want to do gigs in Cairns too, it will happen soon I am sure!”
