‘Summer’ is the new single about to be launched at The Tanks Arts Centre on the 15th of Jan by Cairns based Alt-pop/Hip-Hop band, Cinnamon Sun. ‘Summer’ is a collaboration between Cinnamon Sun’s Davy Simony and Jayden Reid. ‘Summer’ is straight up a feel-good Summer Anthem.
NQ Music Press had a quick catch up with Davy about the collaboration..
“Jayden and I have worked together on multiple projects over the last several years. We play in a band together called Park Ridge. Jayden had been honing his production skills over the past couple of years, and once I heard the quality of what he’s producing, I had to work with him on some Cinnamon Sun tracks. ‘Summer’ is the third Cinnamon Sun track that he has produced – the other two were ‘Fly’ and ‘Flame’ – however ‘Summer’ was the first song we started playing around with in the studio together, way before the other two: we were messing around creating stuff and came up with the hook of the song; instantly realising it’s worth we decided we would circle back to it for a Summer release!”
” I have an amazing group of musicians in the band for this upcoming Tanks show! Carleton Vaux is an incredible bass player who has played with the likes of James Blunt. I had the pleasure of having an impromptu jam on stage at River Sessions with him, he also played bass at the ‘If You Call’ single launch Jan 2021. Michael Aragon is a phenomenal drummer from the Vagaphonics. Local legend Matt Gerdes is a weapon sax player who plays in Whodafunkit. Zac De Lacey is an unreal keys player from bands such as Enemy of Anemone. We are so excited to play on the Tanks stage together”
This will be the fifth single from this group since their journey started only a year ago. In the last twelve months, the Cairns-based group has managed to score three premieres on Triple J, and over 170,000 streams on Spotify. Summer is available on all streaming platfroms
