Cairns’ very own Leanne Tennant premiers her new single ‘Gentle Annie’ this evening (Monday 13.6.16) on Triple J ‘Roots N All’ Show with Sarah Howell from 10pm.
‘Gentle Annie’ is the first single from the upcoming album ‘Red Wine, Late Nights’ due for release in August. It was recorded and produced by Jamie Trevaskis at Wild Mountain Studio (Brisbane), an All-Analogue studio in Mt Nebo. It features an impressive casts of support musicians including Ben Ely (Regurgitator), Hannah Jane, Ben Carstens, Conrad Taylor and many more.
Leanne tells me that the song is ‘about a bus down the road that I want to steal’ and that she is very excited for everybody to hear it on Triple J on Monday evening.
Having recently being awarded a Contemporary Touring Grant through the Australia Council for the Arts, the singer songwriter has been going from strength to strength ever since her debut album ‘Pull Up Your Britches’ came our way in 2014.
Recording in Wild Mountain Studio was also a very new experience for Leanne.
“In the analogue world you record live, one take, and if you don’t like one little part, you pretty much do the whole song again. You have to learn to compromise a lot, and not focus so intensely on your flaws, which I find really difficult. I leapt out of my comfort zone but it was worth every step”.
With video clips in the works and an upcoming tour planned to support the release of ‘Red Wine, Late Nights’ , you will no doubt be hearing a lot more from Leanne Tennant very soon!
Make sure you tune into ‘Roots N All’ on Triple J from 10pm to be one of the first to hear ‘Gentle Annie’ by Leanne Tennant, and send a few requests for it on the Triple J text line 0439 757 555.
