After capturing the hearts of audiences around the country during his Australian east coast tour & opening for Busby Marou in North Queensland, Cairns local Timothy James Wright is continuing his momentum with the release of his new single “Stay” and a debut album.
The track features an atmospheric blend of indie roots and soulful lyrics that pull on the heartstrings of listeners. Drawing inspiration from the likes of The Beatles and David Bowie, it is no surprise that Timothy’s lyrics are full of soul. “Stay” is an honest and raw account of feelings of desertion – explained by Timothy as being about “abandonment issues… wanting someone to be the one who doesn’t leave”.
“Stay” comes in the lead up to the much-anticipated release of the album “Timothy James Wright”. Speaking of the forthcoming album, Timothy explains “we recorded an EP under the name “King Pig” and released it. In many ways, [the album is] really just an extension of those sessions. This time with… a solid direction”. An inspired songwriter Timothy asserts that his hope for his new music is that fans enjoy the songs. He explains, “I enjoy music that has soul and I hope this falls into that category”.
