Understory Film Festival

Here’s on opportunity for local acts with a film clip to get some extra exposure and maybe win some money!

The June 10 entry deadline is looming to get your short film, mini doco, music video, animation or even an experimental film submitted to the inaugural Understory Film Festival. The competition is open to Far North Queensland filmmakers; professional, emerging, student and first-time film makers are encouraged to enter.

Already Understory has received some great short films and many local music videos, as it’s the inaugural year there is no limit to the age of the clip.

Selected films will be screened at the first Understory Film Festival awards ceremony at the Cairns Botanic Gardens on July 19 and winning films will go on to be screened during Cairns Festival film nights on the Esplanade.

“This competition is all about supporting our local filmmakers, its writers, producers, directors and cinematographers as they aspire to make their name in the film and television industry,” said Cultural Services Chair Max O’Halloran.
