Cosmic Psychos Loudmouth Soup

Cosmic Psychos – Loudmouth Soup

Australia’s greatest export since Crocodile Dundee, Cosmic Psychos are hitting the road following the upcoming release of their 11th studio album, Loudmouth Soup.

Having sent their previous record labels broke, Loudmouth Soup will drop on April 6 on the band’s own label GO THE HACK Records.

As a testament to their status as seasoned road dogs, the trio are embarking on a 28 date Aussie tour, taking in just about every damn venue that can provide a cold beer and corner to play in.

After singing about beers for a solid three decades, it’s no surprise that Australia’s thirstiest rock dogs have finally delivered a song about the hangover from hell in the form of ‘Feelin Average’.

Formed in Victoria 1983, the Psychos had the likes of Seattle grunge legends Pearl Jam, Mudhoney and The Melvins all singing their praises in the 2013 documentary about the band, Blokes You Can Trust.

Butch Vig, the producer of Nirvana’s seminal record, Nevermind, described them as “highly influential”, at a time when the Seattle grunge scene was just emerging on the world stage.

Pearl Jam lead singer Eddie Vedder recognised the Cosmic Psychos at a 2009 Melbourne solo show as an early influence on him and his band.

The band was also covered by UK band, The Prodigy, who released a version of Fuel My Fire co-written with LA all-girl alt-rockers L7 which was credited to Cosmic Psychos’ single Lost Cause.

The new LP Loudmouth Soup was recorded in 2017 on lead singer Ross Knight’s storied farm in Spring Plains, Victoria, and produced by long-time Dutch collaborator Silvia Vermeulen.

Sunshine Coast shed band The Chats who released the quintessential Aussie song Smoko that went viral late last year are the official support act.

Cairns local punk rock legends Meat Bikini will kick off the night with their big meaty slabs of sounds in what is set to be one of the biggest nights of Australian rock music at Tanks.
