AUSTRALIAN pop music icon Kate Miller-Heidke marks her return to Cairns this September with a special premiere performance at the brand new Cairns Performing Arts Centre.
On Saturday 28 September Cairns fans will be able to see the Eurovision singer in all of star-studded glory when she performs alongside collaborator Keir Nutall, fresh from their success writing the music and lyrics for Muriel’s Wedding: The Musical.
“Cairns, I can’t wait to see you again!” Kate said.
“I especially can’t wait to play in the brand new Performing Arts Centre and take full advantage of the new acoustics.”
The Cairns stop forms part of a national tour that will see the Brisbane-born singer-songwriter embark on a series of high profile concert dates commencing at the Sydney Opera House before heading to Melbourne, Canberra, QPAC for Brisbane Festival, Cairns, Gold Coast and Caloundra Music Festival.
Classically trained at the Queensland Conservatorium, Kate has a unique ability to blend pop, folk and opera, and boasts a career that includes multiple ARIA Awards nominations and appearances at iconic music institutions including Coachella, the New York Metropolitan Opera and the Eurovision Song Contest.
Her heartfelt performance and the out-of-this world staging of her song Zero Gravity won her first place in her semi-final and a top ten placing at the Eurovision Grand Final in May this year.
The 2019 tour will see Kate will perform brand new versions of her most beloved material including The Last Day on Earth, Caught in the Crowd and O Vertigo!, plus a sneak preview of new songs.
She will be joined on stage by vocalist Jess Hitchcock, cellist/pianist Isaac Hayward and long-time collaborator/guitarist Keir Nuttall.
“I’ll be bringing some genius musicians with me – the kind of artists with whom a certain kind of magic is always bound to happen – and I’m looking forward to showing you the new material I’ve been working on,” Kate said.
“This show is going to be really special.”
