Steel Pulse has been true to their roots for over 40 years and are the only non-Jamaican act to win the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album.
Steel Pulse initially recorded for Island Records and was the opening act for Bob Marley and the Wailers on their 1979 European tour. They quickly became one of Bob Marley’s favourite bands because of their sense of fierce integrity as they strived to get the message of love and justice across to all people.
After winning a Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album for Babylon The Bandit in 1987, they were again nominated for Victims (1991) and Rastafari Centennial (1992). Now with 11 studio albums, 2 live albums and 20 singles to their name they are truly roots reggae legends that continue to reaffirm their relevance on the world touring circuit.
Steel Pulse will be playing the Tanks Arts Centre in Cairns on Friday the 19th of August. Tickets are on sale now.
