Drew Boy Resonate

Resonate – Drew Boy, Steve Williams, The Brassett Hounds

Savidas had the balcony of the Grand Hotel shaking to their funk rock grooves last Sunday, we hope to get them back again soon while they are back in town.

This Sunday from 3pm you can catch Drew Boy. Drew with his band the Sax Addicts have been making waves around town recently playing the popular Grass Is Greener festival with a bunch of big name acts like British India. It’s been a while since Drew played Resonate, make sure you don’t miss his set.

Master song craftsman Steve Williams plays the 4pm set this week. With a sense of melody and harmony that would make songwriters like Neil Finn and Noel Gallagher blush, we can’t understand why Steve has never hit the big time. Steve always turns heads with his fantastically well crafted songs.

The Brassett Hounds play the 5pm set this week. Apparently Andy and Macca made a big impression up at Yungaburra folk festival a few weeks back. Make sure you catch their set and find out what the fuss is about!

Presented by Pandamonium Records and originally starting in 2003 at the Courthouse Hotel on Thursday nights, and then for several years back and forth between the Grand Hotel and the Courthouse Hotel, Resonate has recently returned to the Grand with a new Sunday afternoon session format. Resonate has become a local institution with Dan Sultan, Emma Louise, Danny Ross, Steve Towson and many more having all played Resonate early in their careers. Resonate is not an open mic night, and all artists are paid to ensure the best quality original artists are attracted and quality control is maintained. Resonate supports a sustainable local music industry.

Resonate kicks off at 3pm every Sunday at the Grand Hotel Cairns. Entry is free.

Resonate is on rain hail or shine with plenty of cover from the elements at the Grand
