Resonate – GG Davies, Benny & the Clones, Katie Jay

Resonate returns to your Sunday afternoon musical diet this Sunday at the Grand Hotel.

GG Davies will be kicking off the inaugural Resonate back at the Grand Hotel from 3pm. Local legend George “GG” Davies big bluesy voice always turns heads. GG Davies grew up in Sydney and now resides in Far North Queensland. Once a part of the military and having never firing a shot in anger is now bankrupt and divorced, music kept his soul shining. Expect a bunch of blues from the wrong side of town.

Benny and the Clones will be making the trek down from Port Douglas to play the middle set at Resonate this week. Benny and The Clones formed in Melbourne many moons ago. They have been performing their various sounds of rock/pop/alternative in North Queensland and Melbourne to anyone who appreciates fresh new music. Bands used to describe their sound have been as varied as Neil Young playing with Radiohead, to a You Am I/Go-Betweens feel, to even a Wilco/Ween hybrid! A very varied list of bands for a band with a varied list of sounds. They have featured on Triple J’s Unearthed project, recorded 2 limited release albums and won a few song writing awards up north. beeny and the Clones will be performing a special stripped back acoustic duo set this Sunday at the Grand.

No stranger to Resonate, the lovely ms Katie Jay will be performing the 5pm set this week. Winner of the Tablelands songwriting awards a few years ago, and having travelled to the U.S and wowing the crowds in San Francis with her band the Code, we welcome Katie back to the Resonate stage.
