Benny And The Clones

Resonate – PattyJ, Rebecca Langtree, Benny & The Clones

Mike Elrington absolutely captivated the Resonate crowd last week with his dexterous guitar work and bluesy vocals. This coming Sunday the 29th of Oct we have 3 more fantastic original acts to showcase.

PattyJ is one of NQs best song craftsman. From his early work with 90s/early 2000s grunge outfit “Infamous Izzy”, to his bass work with folk rock act The Killer Beez, to his recent solo work, Patty’s song output is both prolific and of a very high standard. Patty kicks off his set any 3pm.

Rebecca Langtree will play the 4pm set this week. Bec is always a popular act at Resonate that just seems to get better each time. We can’t help wonder when we are going to see some recorded output from this remarkable songwriter?

Benny & The Clones play the 5pm set this week. Benny and The Clones formed in Melbourne many moons ago. They have been performing their various sounds of rock/pop/alternative in North Queensland and Melbourne to anyone who appreciates fresh new music. Check out Benny and the Clones video for their track “Hold Your Head high” below

Bands used to describe their sound have been as varied as Neil Young playing with Radiohead, to a You Am I/Go-Betweens feel, to even a Wilco/Ween hybrid! A very varied list of bands for a band with a varied list of sounds. They have featured on Triple J’s Unearthed project, recorded 2 limited release albums and won a few song writing awards up north. Benny and the Clones will be performing as the full trio this Sunday.

Presented by Pandamonium Records and originally starting in 2003 at the Courthouse Hotel on Thursday nights, and then for several years back and forth between the Grand Hotel and the Courthouse Hotel, Resonate has recently returned to the Grand with a new Sunday afternoon session format. Resonate has become a local institution with Dan Sultan, Emma Louise, Danny Ross, Steve Towson and many more having all played Resonate early in their careers. Resonate is not an open mic night, and all artists are paid to ensure the best quality original artists are attracted and quality control is maintained. Resonate supports a sustainable local music industry.

Resonate kicks off at 3pm every Sunday at the Grand Hotel Cairns. Entry is free.

Resonate is on rain hail or shine with plenty of cover from the elements at the Grand
