Xmas comes early this week at Resonate with an all star line-up for your listening pleasure. We have had a few great Resonate’s lately, but this one is set to blow the lid off the place, come down and have a drink with us and get in the yuletide spirit!
Playing the 7.00pm slot is the Code, who will be playing a rare unplugged set. Fresh back from their sojourn to San Francisco where they played the Owsley foundation concert alongside some music legends including Hot Tuna and Roger McNamee from the band Moonalice. The proceeds from the concert went to help preserve more than 1,300 tapes of live performance recordings made by the late Owsley ‘Bear’ Stanley.
Funny, irreverent, theatrical and virtuosic, Bosko & Honey are one of the most loved Ukulele acts around. They have become crowd favourites at the Resonate showcase gigs and never leave the stage without rapturous applause. Words fail to describe the musical mayhem of Honey in full use mosh mode on the uke metal anthem “Tuck Me In”. You have to see it to believe it, don’t miss em! Bosko & Honey hit the stage at 8.20pm
Not letting up for a second with the great acts this week, Savidas will be bringing the funk to the Resonate stage from 9.30pm. From their warm down to earth vibe you wouldn’t expect that the duo Savidas had done shows that include a Royal Command performance for The Lord Mayor of Melbourne and have played at most of the biggest festivals in Australia. Consisting of band members Gumpy on Vocals, Guitar & Breaks and Uma Vernau aka Umalicious on Vocals & Percussion, the duo have been likened to the sounds of John Butler, Ben Harper and Micheal Franti. Their music having been described in a live review by Beat magazine as: “Audio glue. Being able to mix a handful of Genre’s and bring together the crowd till they’re all singing the final chorus of a song they had never heard before. Magic!”
Resonate is staged every Thursday night at the Grand Hotel in Cairns. Kitchen opens at 6.00, Resonate blasts off at 7.00pm entry is free!
