Hardly strangers to the country music world, the acclaimed Sunny Cowgirls (sisters Sophie and Celeste Clabburn) are gearing up for a rollicking national tour to celebrate their new long player Here We Go. Sophie and Celeste Clabburn are well reputed for their dynamic live shows and their forthcoming run of dates promises to get audiences to their feet.
With the release of their newest album Here We Go due out on 30 September, audiences will be in for a treat with a swag of new songs and fan favourites. The album – their eighth studio release – was produced by Matt Fell (Love Hz Studios | Sara Storer | Shane Nicholson) and is a return to form. The girls wanted to make an album that sounded like ‘classic Sunny Cowgirls’ and they have certainly achieved that. So in classic Sunny Cowgirls fashion, the girls will be celebrating their release with a huge regional run, kicking off in October.
“It’s been a few years since we’ve done a big national tour so we cannot wait to get out on the road again,” says Celeste. “We know what it’s like living in a small country town — it’s a great life but always very exciting when there’s a gig to go to! We’re looking forward to bringing our new show to a heap of small towns across Australia.”
Unique in their storytelling, the Sunny Cowgirls have always stayed faithful to their tales of rural Australia and their new album is no different — offering a mesmerising dedication to hard work, mateship and the Australian summer. The girls have always penned down to earth anthems with organic instrumentation. They write about what they know, whether it’s about country bachelorettes, rural Aussie festival stages or days spent at the local dam.
Here We Go features an impressive selection of guest musicians, including Pete Drummond (Dragon) on drums, Glen Hannah (Kasey Chambers, Jessica Mauboy) on guitar, Shane Nicholson on guitar and banjo and Michel Rose (Slim Dusty, Beccy Cole) on pedal steel. As well as producing the record, Matt Fell lends his multi-instrumental skills to bass and percussion. Sophie and Celeste are huge fans of Matt, frequently endorsing his work with artists like Sara Storer and John Williamson. Here We Go is warm, infectious and cheeky — an Aussie songbook dripping with colloquialism and hearty, feel-good anthems.
Sophie and Celeste Clabburn were just in their teens when their debut album was released in 2005. Shortly after they went on a huge national tour with Adam Brand, wooing audiences with their youth and authentic lyricism. Since then the girls have stayed true to themselves; capturing the spirit of rural Australia. Their debut album Little Bit Rusty peaked at number three on the ARIA Country Charts; paving the way for an inevitably successful career in the country music landscape. They’ve performed at every major country music festival in Australia; collaborated with country music icons like Adam Brand and Sara Storer and released numerous records and DVDs.
