Queensland’s masters of musical fusion, King Social, will make a long-awaited return to Cairns when they join forces with local outfit Drewboy and The Sax Addicts for one big party next weekend (19 November).
King Social – whose upcoming LP has just become Australia’s highest ever crowd- funded debut – last visited Cairns in 2014 and has grown a steady following in the North since then thanks to Festival appearances, their own packed-out shows and a national TV appearance earlier this year.
King Social’s front man Angus Milne said the band was looking forward to getting back to Cairns and teaming up with Drewboy and The Sax Addicts again after they played a show together in Brisbane in September.
“It’s always great to see how other local bands are growing a following for their own, original music from the ground up. We had a ripper time with Drew and the guys in Brissie and have been keen to get up and see them on their home turf – we hear they know how to throw a party,” said Milne.
“We’ve got quite a lot of new stuff since we were last in Cairns and will be road-testing a couple of tracks from the upcoming album when we’re there, too.
“For us, making music is about getting people on their feet and involved, so it’s really important that we see how the new stuff goes at live shows before we hit the recording studio.
Catch King Social and Drewboy and The Sax Addicts at The Jack on Saturday, 19 November. Doors open 7pm.
