Cairns new music night, In/Off Club, explodes with a meat-tray of tasty delights as part of the On Edge festival.
The In/Off Club line-up will be the freshest new music event of the year, with an international and National cast. featuring Cari Cari (Austria), The Broken Needles (Melb), The Starry Fields, Stolen Violin (Melb) and Kate Leopold.
Austria’s Cari Cari features Stephanie Widmer (Vocals, Didgeridoo, Jaw Harp, Drums) and Alexander Köck (Vocals, Guitar, Synthesizer).
They met at Alexander’s EP-Release show and they spent the summer in a house by the seaside, resulting in a six-track EP called “AMERIPPINDUNKLER“.
They released the EP to high critical acclaim, earning them attention from all over the world, and are touring Australia in July to promote the EP.
Melbourne’s The Broken Needles descend on Cairns for the first time as the final stop of their national tour in support of their new album Holy Coast.
The band’s second record see’s their ferocious twin-guitar attack gracefully supplanted by billowing synth textures, meandering pedal steel lines and baroque string arrangements. Described as “igniting a flickering, slow-burning lounge flame with a pulsing undercurrent of detached lunacy and seroquel soul.”.
The Starry Field is the musical baby of Australian producer Mark Myers. With a style best described as Alt-country Synth-pop, Myers brings his songs to life with a collective of talented musicians from North Queensland.
Stolen Violin is the solo project from Jordan Ireland, who was the voice of now defunct Townsville based band, The Middle East.
In/Off Club is part of the independent On Edge festival, produced by Arthouse, which takes place across July and early August.
