Resonate passed it’s bad weather test last week when torrential rain came down in the first set, all performers and punters got to stay dry! It was great to see Savidas back, bringing the funk to Sunday afternoon, they will be back again in March before they head off again.
This Sunday at the Grand Hotel from 3pm you can catch Valerie Villa with her first Resonate appearance for the year. One of there Norths best up and coming singer songwriters and definitely one to watch.
Katie Richards will be playing the 4pm set this week, with strong vocals and songs with hooks galore, make sure you don’t miss Katie’s Set.
Fraser Yuill Scott will be playing the 5pm set this week. Fraser made a huge impression on the Resonate crowd when he made his debut a while back and we look forward to seeing him again. Irene R Barrett will be having a chat to Fraser on her radio show on Cairns FM 89.1 today (Tues) from 3pm. As it happens, Katie Richards and Fraser are partners, and a little bird has told me that they will be collaborating on a few songs this Sunday, could be a very special Resonate in store!
Presented by Pandamonium Records and originally starting in 2003 at the Courthouse Hotel on Thursday nights, and then for several years back and forth between the Grand Hotel and the Courthouse Hotel, Resonate has recently returned to the Grand with a new Sunday afternoon session format. Resonate has become a local institution with Dan Sultan, Emma Louise, Danny Ross, Steve Towson and many more having all played Resonate early in their careers. Resonate is not an open mic night, and all artists are paid to ensure the best quality original artists are attracted and quality control is maintained. Resonate supports a sustainable local music industry.
Resonate kicks off at 3pm every Sunday at the Grand Hotel Cairns. Entry is free.
Resonate is on rain hail or shine with plenty of cover from the elements at the Grand
