Rhodesia – September

Electro-folk duo Rhodesia are a musical example of something being greater than the sum of its parts. A couple in life as well as music, Matt and Em’s combined ethereal folk vocals with synth lines and sparse beats, produces an effect not unlike Bon Iver meets Seekae. Both hailing from Zimbabwe, there’s a taste of Africa in there too.

In a recent interview we did with Em,  she  explains where the curious band name Rhodesia came from. “We were both born and grew up in Zimbabwe and have grown up with all the stories of Rhodesia from our folks. The name Rhodesia takes us both to that same, deep, resonating place that music takes us to. We’re really excited to truely blend our strengths of electronic and folk to express that place inside us both”

The Duo have just released the first of 5 tracks which will be called “The Treehouse Series”. The Treehouse Series’ involves 5 tracks and 5 months. Each track will be released on the 22nd of each month starting April 2016. All tracks have been written, recorded, produced, mixed, and mastered in a treehouse in the jungle of Far North Queensland.

You can check out the first track in Rhodesia’s Treehouse series titled “September” below.
