CHILEAN musician Nano Stern will bring the traditional and indigenous music of Latin America to the Tanks Arts Centre this November.
Known for being political, outspoken, and passionate, Stern’s performances have a rare power and beauty that makes for an immersive, intimate experience for attendees.
The emotion that emanates from his vocal prowess lends perfectly to the intimate and rousing connection his makes with audiences, at home in Chile and across the world.
“We can put aside words, and genre, and tradition,” Stern says.
“In the end, it is all about a movement of air that makes our bodies move. It’s the most mysterious thing.”
A master at his own musical language, Stern has created a sound that blends his youthful expression of the folk music of Chile with his Classical music training.
Being able to speak multiple languages, Stern is able to warmly connect with his international audiences to share and celebrate the stories of his Spanish songs.
Praised by American folk legend Joan Baez as ‘the best young Chilean songwriter of his generation,’ Stern is skilled across a range of instruments and languages and unites his talents to create a sound both relevant and universal.
Despite being able to play Spanish guitars, the violin and the Andean and Nordic flutes, the accomplished musician’s closest companions on stage remains simply his guitar and staggering vocals.
Nano Stern plays Tanks Arts Centre on Friday 22 November 2019.
