As part of Tanks’ 17th annual International Women’s Day series Clairy Browne, Rochelle Pitt and Sue Ray will help us celebrate the achievements of women through music and song.
In 2018 we welcome the divine and whip-smart Clairy Browne.
With a deep affection for R&B, pop and club music of all styles and eras, Browne channels an original sound that incorporates robust takedowns with big soulful ballads and pop rhythms thick with dope beats so sticky they burn.
Browne’s previous incarnation to this solo effort was as the leading lady of Clairy Browne and the Bangin’ Rackettes, a high-drama girl-group R&B extravaganza churning out head-turning hits like “Baby Caught The Bus” and “Love Letter”.
Rochelle Pitt, a proud Butchulla/Kalkadoon/Wirri/Kokoberra woman, realised very early the power of music and voice performing in the churches and choirs of Far North Queensland as a child.
Placing in the top 10 of The X Factor Australia in 2014, Pitt has found herself a national audience with tracks that emit strength, beauty and conviction – Australia’s own Soul Mumma.
Multi-award-winning singer/songwriter, Sue Ray, has performed as a solo artist and with her hot band both nationally and internationally.
Ray captivates a crowd with her haunting and emotionally charged lyrics and considered compositions, piercing the sweet spot with her smoky, molasses-rich voice.
