Two fresh new acts make their debut at Resonate this week along with one Resonate long time favourite.
Kev Boorman plays the 3pm set making his Resonate debut. Kev’s been playing music in various parts of the world for the past 26 years. Writing songs with a conscience and then some without. His attitude is, “Go hard or Go home!” With two EP’s in the bag, he writes from personal experience and also from a sense of social obligation. Influenced by classic Oz Rock artists like Midnight Oil, The Angels and The Divinyls, he has spent his career crafting songs that not only have a social conscience but have an edge of experience.
Steve Willians returns to play the 4pm set this week. Steve is one of the classiest songwriters around. With an infectious sense of melody and some musical chops anyone would be envious of, don’t miss the big fella!
After their amazing set at the Stratford Blues & Roots gig a few weeks back, we though it would be remiss of us to not get the Zephyrbees to Resonate. The Zephyrbees is made up of a talented team of creative local musicians. They have been performing around the region bringing their good vibrations to events like ‘Coalescence’, ‘Didgerizoo’ and ‘Tropical Sounds Festival’.
According to the band:-
“We are the Bees on the Gees. We love to bring our sweet nectar straight live and direct to your ears. You’ll often find us collecting good vibes in the sun, supporting other local acts and laying down original music that brings in the delicious honeys. Forming our hive in the tropics of Cairns, Far North Queensland’s new alternative rock band ‘The Zephyrbees’ flying high, providing some groovy tunes with influences coming from reggae, punk and hip-hop. Each individual brings to the hive their own unique personal influences and style.”
“We collaborate on our broad backgrounds to keep our tunes fresh. Most importantly we have fun and try not to put our bees in a box of definitions; we simply let it Bee. Known for playing our songs in any genre you’ll be surprised when you hear us turn our chill reggae song into something more rocking, with elements of our punk upbringings. We love our beers and babes. Sex, Hugs and Rock n Bowl. Buzzin!”
