A staple in The Taste live performances for the last two years, the introductory song to the band’s new album ‘Convalesce’ highlights the collective mash of musical talent across the band with instruments such as Saxophone, Trumpet, Flute, Congo’s and Electric Guitar all taking centre stage throughout the five minute tropical infusion.

Written on a Sunday during wet season at a quiet gig in Palm Cove, the song has become a fan favourite and familiar opening to many Taste’s performances.

“Originally it was a song we use to play to let off a bit of steam. Our lead guitarist and horn players would all just let rip over the groove of the song. Sometimes it would go for 10 minutes!” said bassist Mitch Sullivan.

‘Sunday Funk’ is the second single to be released from the upcoming album ‘Convalesce’.

The Taste tour QLD/NSW in Sep-Oct 2017.
