Another awesome Sunday afternoon at the Grand is planned for this Sunday 3rd of Sept with 3 great original acts. The always amazing ms Rebecca Langtree will be kicking the arvo off at 3pm. Bec always turns heads with her unique voice and brilliant originals.
Batten down the hatches for The Whiskey Boat who will be playing the 4pm set this week. Whiskey Boat offer a fusion of traditional sea shanties with a collection of indie originals. Influences from the greats such as PJ Harvey, Stevie Nicks, The Pixies, Jethro Tull just to name a few brings about the sound of luscious harmonies from the Butler Sisters and soaring flute solos creating raw earthy sounds to tap your toes to.
For many, listening to them gives a strong sense of community encouraging sing-a-longs and crowd participation to honour our costal heritage.
Ju Ju Moon make the trip up from Mission beach for the 5pm set this Sunday. Ju Ju Moon are no strangers to Resonate and Karens soaring voice and sax always impress. Mixing in a touch of comedy to their catchy tunes, Ju Ju Moon will bring a smile to your face.
Presented by Pandamonium Records and originally starting in 2003 at the Courthouse Hotel on Thursday nights, and then for several years back and forth between the Grand Hotel and the Courthouse Hotel, Resonate has recently returned to the Grand with a new Sunday afternoon session format. Resonate has become a local institution with Dan Sultan, Emma Louise, Danny Ross, Steve Towson and many more having all played Resonate early in their careers. Resonate is not an open mic night, and all artists are paid to ensure the best quality original artists are attracted and quality control is maintained. Resonate supports a sustainable local music industry.
Resonate kicks off at 3pm every Sunday at the Grand Hotel Cairns. Entry is free.
