Dead Roots – Arthouse Lives

Arthouse is back from the dead with a stellar line-up of new music makers for the inaugural DEAD ROOTS.

Featuring Kenta Hayashi (Japan), The Don Johnson/Butlers, dj Madam Mañana, Wallwork Studio’s, Tegan Koster Project, Mingo Tuala, The Cairns Steel Pan Stars, Hanzard, Markham Galut (PNG), Tim Wright and dj Daddy Long Legs.

Firstly, no it isn’t at the old venue (rip) – think of it more like “Arthouse on Wheels”. (Venue Cairns North Tigers Club).

A full ‘mixed grill’ program of wack new music making across genres and disciplines, with some great guests and surprises.

Headlining is our good friend Kenta Hayashi, a Japanese exotic & artistic musician who is a one man show, creating an orchestra of sound by layering vocals, guitar, effects, percussion with electronic beats.

From rock and funk to psychedelic to electronica to dub with overtone harmonies on a rhythmic foundation.

DEAD ROOTS will also feature happening prankstar funk band The Don Johnson/Butlers, with their fresh new show and hot line-up (including former members of the Pad Boys).

Dance-floor favorite DJ Madam Mañana will ignite the mirror-balled grooove-pit, and DJ Daddy Long Legs will keep the grafitti lads company outside.

The sometimes dark sometimes whimsical troubadour Tegan Koster Project launches brand new material, grafitti guru Wallwork Studio’s and his crew will paint live, while wack alien clown Hanzard will present an absurdly unique performance.

DEAD ROOTS also presents the sweet metallic sounds of the Cairns Steel Pan Stars led by Violet Stannard, the breezy Samoan roots of Mingo Tuala, and current indie/folk darling Tim Wright. There’s also a yummy BBQ!!
