On Saturday the 26th of August a very special event is being held at Cairns Convention Centre. 35 of Cairns best musos from both current and past bands will unite to perform a concert of Pink Floyd classics from Albums like Dark Side Of The Moon, Wish You Were Here, The Final Cut, Animals, Meddle, A saucerful of Secrets, A Momentary Lapse of Reason, and of course, The Wall.

Drawn from the deep pool of professional local talent, this 35 piece band includes 12 electric and acoustic guitarists, 15 lead and backing vocals, theremin, harp, flute and sax, steam percussion, upright and electric basses, 3 featured drummers, Rhodes piano, Hammond, Moog, Nord synths and grand piano.

25 years to the day, out of 8 weeks in rehearsal, one show only, 25 classics.

The concert marks 25 years since Cameron McCallum first dragged together the original cast (of which several members will be reuniting for the show) to play the music of Pink Floyd. The original show in 1992 was at the old Cairns Civic Theatre and was a sellout. This time Cameron is going all out with the biggest cast yet, including members of past and present bands Alconzephyr, The Brazilians, Katie Jay and The Code, Trick Question, Dennis Rose, Carinda Christie band, The Sax Addicts, Mangrove Jack, and many many more.

People still talk about the original show and I am sure over the years I have met many more people that claimed to have been at the original show than could have possibly fit into the old Cairns Civic Theatre! It truly has become the stuff of legends. Make sure you don’t miss out this time, Tickets are limited and selling fast. There will be one show only, and your next chance may be in another 25 years!
