After a ten-year long hiatus from the recording studio, Australia’s favourite musical misfits Butterfingers are back in the saddle and set to rock The Tanks Arts Centre on Saturday 9th September as part of the ‘Big Night Out’ Tour.
Having being proven time and time again to be one of Australia’s most successful independent acts, Butterfingers are also well renowned for their high energy live performances.
Having last performned in Cairns at AJ Hackett in 2010, frontman Evil Eddie was looking forward to performing at The Tanks on September 9.
“I’ve been to The Tanks a few times, once as a speaker for a music industry workshop and once before to see a show. So we are quite looking forward to being back in Cairns and playing at The Tanks.”
With an explosive new single ‘Big Night Out’, the band is touring a bunch of regional centers including Cairns and Townsville on the back of the release.
“We did a lot of regional touring back in the day and it was really how we built our name. I think it was what really pushed us over the line with Hottest 100 competitions and things like that, because we had a good connection with regional towns. It definitely helped build a strong fan base for us.”
Having gone into hiatus in 2010, Butterfingers are eagerly looking forward to performing again and releasing a new in the album in the not so distant future.
“We have been talking about getting back together for a long time. We never broke up, it was always just a hiatus, but it probably took a little bit longer than we thought it would to reunite. We are always in pretty close contact. It got to the point where we like, let’s just do it.”
“We do have a new album in the works which will hopefully be released soon or in the New Year. I especially want to make sure that what we release it, its going to be quality. So we’re not rushing it.”
