Fast, furious flamenco trio Kallidad return to North Queensland for a string of dates in Cairns, Port Douglas, Atherton and Townsville kicking off next weekend on Saturday 22nd April.
With a visual image every bit as striking as their unique sound, Kallidad combines flamenco, rock, metal and mariachi music into an intoxicating instrumental mix that gives the audience no choice but to dance! Their powerful, energetic and uplifting performances have left audiences raving all across Australia, Asia and Europe since their formation in 2012. Combine the band’s infamous ‘Day of the Dead’ facepaint and the result is a live spectacle that has to be seen to be believed.
Having appeared at top festivals such as Splendour In The Grass and Falls Festival, the bands love affair with North Queensland started many years ago with a stand out performance at Wallaby Creek Festival.
“The first time we came to North Queensland was for Wallaby Creek in 2014. It was such a wild crazy and adventurous experience for us. Since then we have been so fortunate and grateful that we are regularly invited back by many different festivals and venues. It has been amazing! We often talk about moving up there, then we remember we prefer the beach without crocodiles.” (laughter) said guitarist Jacinko
Having just recorded a new album, Kallidad are looking forward to releasing their new LP ‘The Odyssey’ on Monday 8th May. Pre-sale details for the new album will be announced on the bands Facebook page from 4pm today.
“We are very happy with the outcome. We rehearsed and planned a lot. Then went in and smashed it out in the studio in four days. That’s a very Kallidad way of doing things! We are actually writing, designing and printing a book that goes with the album, so it’s not a cd case, it’s a full on book!”
With a massive run of the dates in North Queensland, Kallidad will be performing at Rock The Yacht in Port Douglas on Saturday 22nd April. The Old RSL in Atherton on Sunday 23rd April. The Jack in Cairns on Thursday 27th April and the Picnic Bay Hotel in Magnetic Island (Townsville) on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th April.
“We are so grateful for their love and support we receive. We just started playing this music for ourselves, and we cannot believe how it has resonated with people. Its humbling and amazing that Kallidad has connected with people so far from home.”
