Cairns singer-songwriter Michael Laman Thomas’ debut solo album Coloured Sands is a glimmering collection of thoughtful, original and contemporary folk songs.
The local primary school teacher signed his first record contract with Universal Music while working for the Mayor of Copenhagen as an English writer.
“Settling back home in Cairns has allowed me time to develop my own sound”, Michael said.
“This album is full of rich acoustic instruments and warm story-telling lyrics. There is even a song written in Danish from my time over there.”
Michael’s songs have been covered by artists such as Denmark’s Yuki, Port Douglas singer-songwriter Omid Master, and UK producer Chris Jenkins.
“This album is about starting my own body of work that my family will be proud of.”
Coloured Sands was recorded at Pegasus studios with Cairns engineer Nigel Pegrum.
“Nigel is a true music lover who helped me bring out the emotion and message in my songs.”
Coloured Sands is out now and available on all digital sales and streaming services.
