On Saturday 18 April Lanie Lane returns to the Tanks stage with her powerful vocals and charming character showcasing her brand new album NIGHT SHADE.
Three years have passed since Lanie released Top 20 ARIA, GOLD debut album “To The Horses”. It was a record that saw Lanie reach dizzying heights and live out some experiences that most songwriters only dream of. She won FBi Radio’s SMAC Award for Record of the Year, The Age’s EG award for Best Female and the AIR award for Best Blues and Roots Record and somewhere in all of that, she recorded a single in Nashville and To The Horses went Gold!
Post-album, Lanie moved to a secluded area in the Victorian bush to write her next body of work – an environment that proved perfect for an artist ready to emerge into her own creative truth. NIGHT SHADE is a record that documents Lanie’s personal and artistic journey. It marks a transition in her life, a time of bravery, adventure, honesty and inner growth. It’s the record she really wanted to make and it’s the record she really wants you to hear.
The first single from NIGHT SHADE, the chiming and wondrous Celeste gave fans a taste of what the album was all about. The video was visually stunning, shot on location in Peru, and demonstrated another side to Lanie Lane’s treasure trove of talent. It’s a signpost to the kind of musical development and positive creative change that typifies the new record and, in turn, the new live show.
This show will be Lanie’s first national tour since 2012 and will be the first chance for fans to hear Lanie’s new body of work live, as well as all the favourites from her first album. Her live band is made up of some of her closest friends and musical collaborators – Jez Mead (trumpet / guitar), Sarah Belkner (whirlitzner / rhodes / backing vocals), Aidan Roberts (guitar), Tim Keegan (electric bass) and Paul Derricott (drums / percussion).
