Benny And The Clones

Resonate – Katie Jay, Dan Howls, The Taste, Benny & the Clones

This Sunday the 6th of November looks set to be another great Resonate at the Courthouse Hotel with 4 outstanding acts.

The always entertaining Katie Jay will be kicking off the afternoon at 4pm. Dan Howls will be returning for a set of his Dirty Blues at 5pm. Any fans of Tom Waits should definitely go out of their way to catch Dan Howls.

The Taste will be playing the 6pm set this week. Wether as a duo, trio or full band, the Taste never fail to engage an audience, and the guys just get better each time I see them.

Benny & The Clones will be travelling down from Port Douglas to lose their Resonate cherry and will be playing an acoustic set as a duo at 7pm.

Born of a mutual love of music, beer, party pies and sausage rolls, Benny & The Clones have been playing original music in Far North Queensland for the better part of a decade.

Accolades include winning the People’s Choice award in the 2008 Douglas Songwriting contest, third prize in the 2015 Port Douglas Street Art and Music Festival competition, airplay on Triple J, and seventh place in the inaugural Port Douglas Muso Hot Dog Eating Contest last year.

The Clones have recently released their third self-titled studio record after finalising the album mastering in Nashville, and they’re looking forward to playing more shows with a song catalogue that’s diverse enough for anything from folk festivals to rock shows. From the local street music festivals to shows at the Tanks Arts Centre and local resorts like the Sheraton and QT Port Douglas, they’ve had support slots for acts the likes of Daryl Braithwaite to Custard to Kingswood.

Presented by Pandamonium Records and originally starting in 2003 at the Courthouse Hotel on Thursday nights, and then for several years at the Grand Hotel, Resonate has recently returned to the Cairns Courthouse Hotel with a new Sunday afternoon session format. Resonate has become a local institution with Dan Sultan, Emma Louise, Danny Ross, Steve Towson and many more having all played Resonate early in their careers. Resonate is not an open mic night, and all artists are paid to ensure the best quality original artists are attracted and quality control is maintained.

Resonate kicks off at 4pm every Sunday at Cairns Courthouse Hotel. Entry is free.

Resonate is on rain hail or shine. In the event of bad weather Resonate will be moved inside to the main bar area.
