Resonate – Ray Danes, Steve Towson, Brealyn Sheehan

This Thursday night looks set for an epic Resonate night at the Grand Hotel with Ray Danes making his Resonate debut, Steve Towson adding Resonate to his North QLD tour itinerary and crowd favourite Brealyn Sheehan making a very welcome return.

Raymond ‘Ray’ Danes is an Australian singer, songwriter. Ray learned to play Drums at a very young age and later started playing guitar, singing and writing songs. He began studying music and moved to Cairns in 2011 to pursue a music career. In 2012, inspired by Ed Sheeran, he began playing gigs starting at ‘Clifton Capers’. Ray Danes won the songwriting competition at the ‘Tablelands Folk Festival’ 2012. In 2013 he released his ‘The Fog’ EP. In April 2014 he signed a recording and publishing deal with Ritzland Records & Ritzland Music Publishing with his debut album to be released later this year.

South-east Queensland-based musician Steve Towson is once again hitting the road, taking his music to a festival, conventional music establishments and – in typical Towson style – several unorthodox venues. Towson is a regular of the Queensland and Australian music scenes, bringing his passionate brand of punk-inspired anti-folk to audiences around the country and beyond. This time around, he’s celebrating the release of new tracks: the raw, boisterous energy of “I’m Gonna Do It All Over Again” and the more intricate, interwoven exploration of love and solidarity, “We Will Rise”. But as is often the case with Towson, the subtext runs deeper than a tour and a few new tunes. He’s also fundraising and collecting resources for the Australian Cultural Library, an independent project he co-founded three years ago. Steve is a an old of friend of Pandamonium Records, having played several Pandamonium gigs over the years including R.A.W, Resonate and the Panda room. We look forward to welcoming him back to Cairns and the new Resonate!

Brealyn Sheehan is no stranger to the local scene, from her Diva like vocals with Cinnamon sin to her new solo career, Brea never fails to impress. Brealyn has also been featured on this weeks Balcony TV episode. Check out the Ukulele Musicbox in the Balcony TV clip, possibly one of the coolest things I have seen is some time! Brea tells me the music box is currently being repaired, but she is hoping to get it back in time for Resonate on Thursday night. Watch the clip below.
