Resonate – Sunday 8th March

NQs longest running original music gig ‘Resonate’ returns Sunday the 8th of March at it’s new location, Raintrees Tavern. The afternoon kicks off at 2pm with a stellar lineup of local talent.

Longtime Resonate favourite Katie Jay will be playing the inaugural set at the new Resonate. Music has always played an important role in Katie’s life, and singing and making up songs is something that she has done from a very young age (often driving her family crazy on long car trips). In Melbourne Katie learnt to perform singing other peoples songs at weddings and corporate functions. When she arrived in Cairns a new chapter began, she began to write her own songs, and subsequently won the 2014 Songwriters Award at the Tablelands Folk Festival with her song “The River” Late in 2015 Katie Jay, along with her band The Code were invited to perform at The Great American Music Hall in San Francisco for a benefit concert for the Owsley Stanley Foundation (https://www.facebook.com/OwsleyStanleyFoundation).

Jessy Lynch (pictured) will be making her Resonate debut on the 8th. Locals may know Jessy from fronting the band Queen Violet, which she has parted ways with, and is now embarking on a solo career. Sculpting visceral soundscapes on solid grunge-forged foundations and smoothing the angsty 90’s guitar riffs with haunting sonic poetry, Jessy evokes more enchantment than melancholy. The masterfully delivered lyrics are deeply introspective, an echo of familiarity in the realm of the human condition. Jessy’s dynamic compositions are somehow nostalgic with contemporary flair; a fresh take on a classic genre that is sure to connect with audiences and take them on an aural ride to another time and place, then back again. Music runs in the family for Jessy, her dad Dave “Diamond” Lynch is a guitar player that is well known and currently runs a recording studio on the tablelands, where Jessy will be recording her debut album.

Paddy J will be playing the 4pm set. Paddy is one of NQs best kept secrets, one of our finest and most eclectic songwriters. Paddy J has just released a killer new track with film clip. The track ‘You Lift me Up’ was co penned with ex Hot Rubber Glove drummer Dal Smart, and Ben Coe. Check it out and definitely try and track down a copy of Paddy’s latest release ‘Songs From Outa Space’ Spotify iTunes Check out the clip below.
