Resonate looks set to be a big one this Sunday the 11th of December at Cairns Courthouse Hotel when we introduce 2 new Resonate acts and and old Favourite that has returned home for a visit.
Valerie Villa kicks off the afternoon at 4pm. Valerie wowed the Resonate crowd a few weeks back when the blackout took power from the venue so like the trooper she is, serenaded the folks on the back deck with a 100% acoustic performance. Both punters and venue folk were very impressed, we trust the power will be on this week and Valerie can do her full act through the P.A
Bobby Maguire makes his Resonate debut at 5pm this week.Music entered Bobby’s life at age fourteen after surgery at the Royal Children’s Hospital left him unable to play sports. It was then that his father bought him his first electric guitar and Bobby formed a rock band who soon found themselves performing for thousands at music festivals before releasing two successful E.Ps produced by mentor Danny Ross.
As well as winning crowds and competitions with his infectious songs and energetic stage presence; Bobby began hosting a weekly radio show before producing a music video for his song “Take the Bus Back” which went on to feature twice on Channel Ten. Bobby then moved to Melbourne to complete a Bachelor Degree of Music while performing in a variety of bands, music videos and showcases including a live concert on Channel 31.
Now back in FNQ Bobby Maguire’s ‘ultimate one-man-band’ show continues to captivate and delight audiences Australia-wide.
Greta Stanley returns back from her new Melbourne base for a short visit and we are delighted to have her back at Resonate. Always popular with the Resonate crowd, Greta’s amazing voice and nicely crafted original tunes are guaranteed to win you over.
Tim Chapman also makes his Resonate debut this week playing the 7pm Slot. Tim established himself as a radio DJ on the Gold Coast in the late 2000’s before finding success as the front man for Brisbane punk band Too Late Escape! He has performed all along the East Coast of Australia alongside acts such as Faith No More, Jimmy Eat World, and Paramore. His new project “Ocean Bling” features an acoustic sound that draws influence from elements of pop, rock, punk, and country. After spending time in country Queensland, Tim is ready to lay down some roots, and some tunes, in the Far North.
Presented by Pandamonium Records and originally starting in 2003 at the Courthouse Hotel on Thursday nights, and then for several years at the Grand Hotel, Resonate has recently returned to the Cairns Courthouse Hotel with a new Sunday afternoon session format. Resonate has become a local institution with Dan Sultan, Emma Louise, Danny Ross, Steve Towson and many more having all played Resonate early in their careers. Resonate is not an open mic night, and all artists are paid to ensure the best quality original artists are attracted and quality control is maintained.
Resonate kicks off at 4pm every Sunday at Cairns Courthouse Hotel. Entry is free.
Resonate is on rain hail or shine. In the event of bad weather Resonate will be moved inside to the main bar area.
