Resonate kicks off on Easter Sunday this week with 3 great original acts.
Adrian Thomas returns to play a solo set in the 3pm slot this week. With beautiful lyrics and stories that arouse hope, empowerment and a strong connection to the land, Adrian synthesizes an earthy, uncomplicated sound and dishes out seductive poetry with his deep, soulful voice. Blending uplifting, lyrically driven songs with sweeping melodies, his versatility in delivery of upbeat songs inspire and challenge, whilst his ballads open the heart strings. Drawing on a plethora of life experiences, his songs cover everything from current social/political issues and navigating through the game of life, Adrian’s musicianship is raw/blemished and uncompromising, reflecting his humble beginnings and his connection with the average Australian. Adrian Thomas’ music uses the familiarity of the old with the vibrancy of the new to create distinctive, passionate, timeless, tunes.
Valerie Villa Plays the 4pm set this week. A Cairns based singer/songwriter with a diverse repertoire which consist mostly of original folk, alternative and pop music. One of the norths best up and coming songwriters.
The venerable G.G Davies plays the 5pm set this week. Get ready for a set of earthy blues from the wrong side of the tracks.
Presented by Pandamonium Records and originally starting in 2003 at the Courthouse Hotel on Thursday nights, and then for several years back and forth between the Grand Hotel and the Courthouse Hotel, Resonate has recently returned to the Grand with a new Sunday afternoon session format. Resonate has become a local institution with Dan Sultan, Emma Louise, Danny Ross, Steve Towson and many more having all played Resonate early in their careers. Resonate is not an open mic night, and all artists are paid to ensure the best quality original artists are attracted and quality control is maintained. Resonate supports a sustainable local music industry.
