Recorded in just a few weeks, the huge seven-track EP is an epic collection of diverse acoustic ballads, hip hop, and rock  with lyrics reflecting  love, heartbreak, challenge, triumph and Drew’s personal life experience of “growing down”(The opposite of growing up). Each of the seven tracks featured have been written by Drew over 10 years of creating and performing music to audiences on Australia’s East Coast, New Zealand and in country Queensland as a combination of a solo, duo and band acts.

The Sax Addicts, who are responsible for the foundation music behind Drewboy’s lead vocals, are Matt Gerdes on the saxophone, Tanya Murphy on the bass and Gus Fernandez on the drums. Together so far, the band have solidified their place on the stage recently taking out the title at the ‘Grass is Greener Festival’ battle of the bands.

Drew, often accompanied by sax player Matt, has frequented the Cairns music scene for just 18 months but has quickly become hot property playing at top local venues such as Resonate at the Grand, Gilligans, Salthouse and the Union Jack Hotel where they once played their original tracks to audiences as the supporting act for Ash Grunwald who played at Bluesfest in 2015. They’ve also secured headline gigs in Brisbane at the New Globe Theatre, Urban Roots and earlier this year played to a 4,000 strong audience at Australia Zoo.

Drew has been regularly uploading originals and covers to his YouTube channel for two years attracting over 35,000 views but is thrilled to finally be stepping up and taking his work to the next level. Alongside the Sax Addicts, he’s been busy recording songs and film clips for their first official EP which will officially be launched at The Union Jack Hotel on July 3rd.

“We’re all so stoked on how far we have come in such a short time.

It’s hard to believe it was only a 18 months ago that I was a FIFO worker on the gas fields and I’m now a full time musician with a kick-arse band about to release our first CD to the world! This is what I’m really passionate about and I can’t wait to share it,” said Drew.

The band’s ‘must listen’ tracks are ‘Feel Alright’, ‘FIFO’ and ‘Fingers On The Crown’ all featuring strong lyrics, rich harmonies, huge melodic builds and a fresh combination of acoustic chill, hip hop and rock tones.
